Voyis Imaging is a Waterloo-based company that designs and manufactures high-performance underwater optical sensors for autonomous underwater vehicles. Our products have enabled our customers to survey over 10,000km of ocean floor across all 7 continents, helping people better understand remote and challenging environments.

We're looking for a skilled Mechatronics Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our manufacturing and testing team, you'll work on electrical, mechanical, optical, and software elements of our products.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assemble and test electrical, mechanical, and optical systems, including wiring, crimping, and soldering.
  • Perform optical calibration procedures on cameras and laser systems.
  • Inspect and test incoming components according to QC instructions.
  • Complete system performance testing on laser-scanners, lighting systems, and cameras.
  • Follow procedures for software and firmware setup on our systems.
  • Prepare equipment for shipping and receiving.

Requirements:

  • Proficiency in hand soldering, crimping, and connector assembly, wire harnessing, and organization.
  • Experience with advanced mechanical integration and intermediate fabrication techniques.
  • Proficiency with electronic measurement tools (multimeter, oscilloscope, etc.) for troubleshooting.
  • Familiarity with Quality Control/Quality Assurance ideals.
  • Proficiency with various measurement tools (Vernier calipers, bore gauges, etc.).
  • Adaptable to a flexible work schedule.
  • Driver's license.

Bonus Points:

  • Technical degree or diploma in electrical systems, electronics, robotics, control systems, or equivalent experience.
  • Experience with PCBAs, handling ESD-sensitive materials, knowledge of IPC-620/610.
  • Experience handling, assembling, testing optical components.
  • Experience working with point clouds and 3D computer visualization.
  • Six sigma belt designation.
  • Experience in or a passion for the underwater world or robotics.
