Job Description

The Canadian Mathematical Society is seeking a highly qualified and motivated individual to fill the position of Assistant Professor in Applied Mathematics. This is a full-time tenure-track position that will contribute to the growth and development of the Department of Mathematics and Statistics.

Key Responsibilities
  • Teach and coordinate undergraduate mathematics courses, including first-year mathematics courses to large groups.
  • Develop and maintain a high-quality research program, with a focus on applied mathematics.
  • Apply for funding from major granting agencies to support research initiatives.
  • Participate in the dissemination of knowledge and in the outreach of the University through conferences and scientific activities.
  • Contribute to the operation and development of the Department, the Faculty of Arts and Science, and the Canadian Mathematical Society.
Requirements
  • Hold a Ph.D. in Mathematics or in another related field. Priority will be given to candidates with expertise in Applied Mathematics.
  • A strong research and publication record.
  • Demonstrated ability or potential to work in the development of teaching first-year undergraduate courses in mathematics.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide high-quality university teaching at all levels, including first-year undergraduate courses in mathematics.
  • Interest and ability to work collaboratively and as part of a team with the department's teaching staff.
  • An adequate knowledge of the written and spoken English language or a strong commitment to mastering the proficiency level required.
