Job Description

We seek a talented and motivated Regulatory and Public Consultation Manager to join our team. As a key player in our development team, you will be responsible for navigating complex regulatory frameworks, managing and actively participating in public and government consultations, and ensuring compliance with municipal, provincial, and federal regulations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist with drafting and conducting reviews of Alberta Utilities Commission (AUC) application documents for solar and battery energy storage systems projects.
  • Monitor and manage AUC proceeding processes.
  • Review and manage environmental assessments and supporting materials.
  • Coordinate municipal development and building permit applications.
  • Assist with drafting, review, and management of submissions for other provincial and federal regulatory requirements.
Public and Government Consultation
  • Create public and government engagement plans tailored to each project.
  • Manage consultation logs, ensuring all interactions are documented and follow regulatory standards.
  • Meet with stakeholders, including residents, landowners, and government officials, to discuss projects, address concerns, and foster positive relationships.
  • Represent Starlight at public hearings, open houses, and meetings with government agencies.
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • 5+ years of experience in regulatory affairs or public consultation within the renewable energy sector (preferably solar).
  • Background in environmental permitting or municipal planning.
  • Prior public consultation experience involving renewable energy projects.
  • Knowledge of community engagement best practices.
  • Demonstrated ability to de-escalate conflicts and build consensus.
