Job Summary

Westlake Paving & Aggregates, a division of Lafarge Canada Inc., is seeking an experienced Screed Operator to join our team. As a key member of our paving crew, you will be responsible for setting the depth and width of the asphalt as it is laid by the paving machine.

Key Responsibilities

  • Set the depth and width of the asphalt to exact specifications, ensuring a high-quality finished product.
  • Shovel asphalt into holes in the surface and/or areas where the paving machine cannot access.
  • Provide excellent internal customer service, exceeding expectations of services.
  • Follow all safety, compliance, and environmental requirements in alignment with company standards.
  • Perform related work as assigned, demonstrating a high degree of quality and attention to detail.
  • Able to work overtime, nights, and in all-weather conditions as required throughout the paving season.

Requirements

  • A minimum of one year of experience as a paving screed operator.
  • Attention to detail and a high degree of quality of work.
  • Ability to work overtime and in all-weather conditions.
  • Ability to work in a team environment and communicate effectively with the crew.
  • Safety-oriented and able to lift 55 lbs.
  • Able to work in a fast-paced, high-production environment.
  • Able to work well with others and demonstrate commitment to safety for oneself and others.
  • Mechanical aptitude and time and self-management skills as part of a team or independently.
  • Demonstrate strong skills in problem-solving, decision making, and multi-tasking.
  • Willing to work overtime and shifts when needed, including Saturdays.

Compensation

  • Wage: $35.05
