Job Summary

We are seeking a highly qualified and experienced French Immersion Teacher to join our team at York Catholic District School Board. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching French and English to Grade 7 and 8 students in a dual language program.

Key Responsibilities
  • Teach French and English to Grade 7 and 8 students in a dual language program
  • Develop and implement engaging lesson plans that meet the needs of diverse learners
  • Assess student progress and adjust instruction accordingly
  • Collaborate with colleagues to develop and implement curriculum
  • Communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues
Requirements
  • French Qualifications (FSL - Part 1 and/or other French qualifications as recorded on Ontario College of Teachers Certificate)
  • High degree of oral and written proficiency in the French language
  • Primary and/or Junior and/or Intermediate Division Qualifications
  • Experience teaching in the Primary and/or Junior and/or Intermediate Division
  • Trained in the Accelerated Integrated Method (AIM/Gestures)
  • FSL - Part 2 or Specialist qualification
  • Knowledge of Balance Literacy and Numeracy practices in the Primary and/or Junior and/or Intermediate Division
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience teaching in a dual language program
  • Knowledge of curriculum development and implementation
  • Experience with assessment and evaluation
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
