As a branch manager at the Edmonton Public Library, you will play a critical role in delivering exceptional service to the community. The Strathcona Branch Manager will be responsible for leading a team of dedicated professionals who provide a wide range of services and programs to the community.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to make a real difference in people's lives every day. You will be accountable for 19 full-time and part-time positions and will be responsible for promoting a learning environment, working with staff to develop their leadership capacity. You will also be committed to upholding the Canadian Federation of Library Associations position statements on Intellectual Freedom and Diversity and Inclusion.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Developing and implementing strategies to promote the library's services and programs, working closely with other departments to achieve this goal.
  • Mentoring and coaching staff to develop their leadership capacity and ensure they have the skills and knowledge needed to deliver exceptional results.
  • Supervising staff and overseeing the delivery of services and programs, ensuring that the library meets its goals and objectives.

To be successful in this role, you will require:

  • A Master of Library and Information Science degree from an ALA accredited library school and a minimum of 2 years professional library experience and 3 years supervisory or directly related experience.
  • Satisfactory background screening, which includes a Criminal Record Check/Police Information Check.
