Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the creation and execution of a bold annual and multi-year fund development plan across diverse revenue streams, including monthly, major gifts, and planned giving.
- Provide leadership, direction, and management for the Development and Communications teams to create an environment of collaboration, respect, creativity, accountability, and high performance.
- Serve on the senior leadership team: providing overarching support to the FoodShare team and developing organizational policy and culture.
- Participate and lead in the development of annual and multi-year operational and financial plans that align with the overall Strategic Plan.
- Oversee and support the development of annual work plans, funding targets, and strategies.
- Provide mentorship to direct reports, including conducting performance reviews, identifying opportunities for growth and development, and more.
- Ensure that FoodShare's fundraising and communications strategies and activities align with the organization's mission, values, culture, priorities, and fundraising guidelines, and that these are clearly articulated to interested parties.
- Support the development of systems and ways of working that enhance collaboration, streamline processes, and generate positive outcomes across the department.
- Develop and implement policies, practices, and standards that protect FoodShare's reputation and stakeholder information, and ensure that legislative requirements are met.
Requirements:
- 3+ years of experience at senior management/director level.
- ~3+ years of experience in leading the development of successful, measurable strategies for fundraising and/or marketing and communications.
- ~3+ years of experience of managing a personal portfolio of key donors/client contacts/program partners and prospects.
- Demonstrable results in revenue generation and growth (fundraising, marketing, and sales, business development, etc.).
- Excellent listening, verbal, and written communication.
- Knowledge of regulatory framework and ethical fundraising practices required.
- Demonstrated interest in FoodShare's mission, values, and work, along with a strong understanding of principles of food justice and equity and an ability to embed these principles in the development and communications work.
- Experience with donor and/or communications databases an asset (ie. Raiser's Edge, Salesforce).
