Job Overview:

The Senior Director of Tax Compliance will lead the tax and treasury functions for ROSS, driving strategic planning and implementation across Canada and the US. This role requires a seasoned professional with expertise in tax compliance, financial planning, and risk management.

Responsibilities:

  • Tax:
    • Supervise the preparation of sales tax returns (approximately 50 per month)
    • Liaise with auditors to ensure compliance
    • Prepare federal and provincial/state income tax returns, as well as tax working papers for audited financial statements
    • Identify and implement tax planning opportunities to optimize cash flow and minimize risk
    • Evaluate and adjust transfer pricing models and practices
  • Treasury:
    • Update and refine short- and long-term cash forecasting models to inform business decisions
    • Supervise the cash applications team to ensure accurate and timely processing
    • Forecast, monitor, and manage cash flow and debt requirements to maintain optimal capital structure
    • Develop and implement hedging strategies to mitigate foreign exchange risks
    • Identify and capitalize on interest swap opportunities to optimize debt levels
  • Leadership:
    • Lead and develop a team of managers and staff responsible for tax and treasury functions
    • Mentor and guide team members in their career development and growth

Qualifications:

  • Minimum education: University Degree, preferably with Chartered Accountant (CA) or Certified Management Accountant (CMA) designation
  • 5-10 years post-designation experience, with a strong background in tax and treasury
  • Expertise in Canadian and US income taxes, transfer pricing, and corporate finance
  • Advanced Excel modeling skills and proficiency in financial software
  • Strong analytical and communication skills, with ability to manage shifting priorities and deadlines
