Job Title: Relief Program Counsellor

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Relief Program Counsellor to join our team at The Salvation Army. As a Relief Program Counsellor, you will play a vital role in supporting individuals with developmental disabilities and mental health challenges.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide teaching and support to program participants to promote their personal development and community inclusion.
  • Facilitate programs that foster employment opportunities and social skills.
  • Implement and follow support protocols, behavior support plans, and provide counseling services as needed.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with program participants, their families, and other stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with the program team to ensure a comprehensive and supportive environment.
Requirements:
  • Completed 2-3 year Developmental Services Worker (DSW) Diploma or equivalent degree/diploma related to human services.
  • Valid and current Standard First Aid Certificate and CPR Level C Certificate.
  • Ability to achieve Nonviolent Crisis Intervention certificate upon hire.
  • Valid Ontario Class "G" Driver's License and a current copy of a Driver's abstract.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Minimum 2-5 years' experience working with people with developmental disabilities and mental health challenges.
  • Experience with implementing and updating Individual Support Plans.
  • Medication administration experience preferred.
