Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Maintenance Mechanic to join our Export facility, located in Mississauga, for the afternoon shift. The successful candidate will be responsible for setting up and troubleshooting packaging machines and lines, observing machine operations to ensure quality and conformity of filled or packaged products to standards, and performing preventative maintenance on the production line.

Key Responsibilities
  • Set up and troubleshoot packaging machines and lines, including vertical and horizontal cartoners with gluers, tape machines, baggers, pallet wrappers, printers, labelers, and multi-weigh scale/filter systems, metal detectors.
  • Observe machine operations to ensure quality and conformity of filled or packaged products to standards.
  • Adjust machine components, machine tension, and pressure according to size or processing angle of product.
  • Regulate machine flow or speed.
  • Stop or reset machines when malfunctions occur, clear machine jams, and report malfunctions to a Supervisor.
  • Inspect and remove defective products and packaging material.
  • Clean, oil, and make minor adjustments or repairs to machinery and equipment, such as opening valves or setting guides.
  • Monitor and perform preventative maintenance on the production line, watching for problems such as pile-ups, jams, or glue that isn't sticking properly.
  • Repair areas in the facility that require attention as per work orders.
  • Train Packaging Equipment Operators.
  • Assist with production on lines as required.
  • Be proficient in the use of the CMMS system for documenting repairs, preventative maintenance, and parts inventory management.
Requirements
  • 2-3 years' experience as a Maintenance Technician or Mechanic specializing in secondary packaging (i.e., shrink wrapping, overwrapping, and cartooning).
  • Engineering/Technical Education background.
  • Forklift or Scissor Lift certification an asset.
  • Licensed Millwright not required.
