Job Description

We are seeking a skilled CNC Machine Operator to join our team at Durabuilt Windows and Doors Inc. in Edmonton, AB.

The successful candidate will be responsible for operating CNC machines and using hand tools to clean and prepare materials for glass window manufacturing.

The ideal candidate will have a good understanding of window products, glass manufacturing processes, and equipment operation. They must be able to identify and report defective materials and workmanship, and ensure their safety and the safety of their coworkers by using personal protective equipment and adhering to safety policies and procedures.

The CNC Machine Operator will also be responsible for collaborating with the continuous improvement team to identify and implement improved ways of performing their duties.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Setting CNC machine parameters and identifying materials and workmanship that do not meet quality requirements.
  • Demonstrating use of CNC machine safety and personal protective equipment.
  • Reporting defective material and/or workmanship to their supervisor.
  • Being comfortable with computer applications and filling out quality-related documents accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Keeping the work area clean and free from clutter, recycling waste, and removing dust on a daily basis.
  • Reporting all activities and hazards that may create an unsafe work environment.

Requirements:

  • At least 2 years of CNC machine operating experience.
  • A mechanical aptitude and ability to stand for an extended period of time.
  • Ability to read and interpret specifications sheets and understand metric and imperial measurements.
  • Basic understanding of computers and proficiency in communicating in English with others.

Working Conditions:

  • Physically able to lift between 0 lbs to 50lbs.
  • Work primarily in a production facility with a dusty and noisy environment.
  • Move around the plant, maneuver product, and gather information.
  • Doors are frequently open, causing drafts and interior temperature changes.
  • Floors in the work area may be slippery during wet weather conditions, have cracks, and be uneven.
  • Tools, supplies, and chemicals may contain hazardous materials and emit unpleasant odors.
