Position Overview

The role of an Electrical Technician on an offshore drilling rig involves a range of responsibilities centered around the maintenance and repair of electrical systems.

Qualifications
  • Education: Completion of a trades certificate or diploma in a relevant field.
  • Experience: A minimum of 1 to 2 years in a similar position.
Work Environment

This position is based on an offshore drilling rig, requiring adaptability to a unique work setting.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct tests on electrical and electronic equipment to ensure proper functionality, including checks for continuity, current, voltage, and resistance.
  • Perform maintenance, repairs, installations, and testing of switchgear, transformers, switchboard meters, regulators, and reactors.
  • Oversee the maintenance and repair of electrical motors, generators, alternators, industrial storage batteries, and hydraulic and pneumatic control systems.
  • Manage inventory of materials and supplies for electrical systems.
  • Troubleshoot and repair industrial electrical and electronic control systems, ensuring optimal performance.
  • Implement preventive maintenance programs and maintain detailed maintenance records.
  • Interpret technical drawings, blueprints, schematics, and electrical code specifications to plan installations of industrial electrical equipment.
