Job Title: Early Childhood Educator - Child Development Specialist

Job Summary:

We are seeking a qualified Early Childhood Educator - Child Development Specialist to join our team at Connecting Dot - Barrie. The successful candidate will be responsible for creating and implementing child-care programs that support the physical, cognitive, emotional, and social development of children.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assess children's development to prepare a learning plan tailored to their needs.
  • Assist co-workers with housekeeping and cooking duties.
  • Bathe, diaper, and feed infants and toddlers.
  • Develop and implement child-care programs that promote children's development.
  • Maintain daycare equipment.
  • Supervise staff, trainees, or volunteers.
  • Communicate with parents about children's progress.
  • Assist early childhood educators in carrying out programs that promote children's development.
  • Lead activities such as storytelling, teaching songs, and taking children on outings.
  • Order supplies and equipment.
  • Assist early childhood educators or supervisors with record-keeping.
  • Encourage children to express creativity through art, dramatic play, music, and physical activity.
  • Engage children in activities such as storytelling, teaching songs, and preparing crafts.
  • Guide and assist children in developing proper eating, dressing, and toilet habits.
  • Prepare snacks and arrange rooms or furniture for lunch and rest periods.
  • Observe children for signs of potential learning or behavioral problems and prepare reports for parents or supervisors.
  • Submit written observations on children to early childhood educators or supervisors.
  • Discuss children's progress and problems at staff meetings.
  • Establish guidelines for behavior.
  • Attend staff meetings to discuss children's progress and problems.
  • Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with co-workers and community service providers working with children.
  • Plan and maintain an environment that protects children's health, security, and well-being.
  • Plan and organize activities for school-age children in child-care programs before and after regular school hours.
  • Supervise and coordinate activities of other early childhood educators and assistants.

Requirements:

  • College, CEGEP, or other non-university certificate or diploma from a program of 1-2 years.
  • 1 year to less than 2 years of experience in early childhood education and teaching.
  • Knowledge of licensing regulations.
