Job Overview

BWX Technologies, Inc. is seeking a highly skilled Manufacturing Engineering Specialist to join our team in Peterborough, Ontario. As a key member of our Fuel Handling and Engineered Solutions group, you will be responsible for the estimating and execution of manufacturing projects, including electro-mechanical automation, tooling, welded fabrications, machining, field services, and testing.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare detailed cost estimates for custom-engineered manufacturing projects.
  • Provide manufacturing inputs to the design process and participate in manufacturability reviews.
  • Plan and lead jobs through manufacturing, including machining, welding, assembly, and test.
  • Prepare Manufacturing Bills of Material and perform make vs buy evaluations.
  • Write instructions for in-house activities, manufacturing sketches, weld map records, assembly/test specs, and identify, design, and procure fixtures and required tooling.
  • Manage design changes and maintain configuration of the design during manufacturing.
  • Lead and participate in project meetings related to schedules and budgets.
  • Prepare schedule inputs for projects and troubleshoot production problems with design and manufacturing teams.
  • Drive continuous improvement of manufacturing activities.
Requirements
  • College/University graduate in an Engineering discipline.
  • Experience with manufacturing of instrumentation and control equipment, PLC systems, cable assemblies, panels, and industrial automation.
  • Knowledge and experience with machining, fitting/welding, assembly, and materials, including stainless steels, Al-bronze, nickel alloys, zirconium, etc.
  • Knowledge or experience with metrology, Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerances (GD&T), and blue print reading.
  • High level of proficiency with data analysis and management, including spreadsheet tools and MRP systems.
  • Demonstrated ability in project planning/execution, including development of processes/procedures and process improvements.
  • Very strong communication and interpersonal skills.
