Job Description

The House of Commons Finance Services is seeking a highly skilled Senior Policy and Project Officer to join its Policy Services team. This role plays a crucial part in shaping policies for Members and House Officers of the House of Commons.

Key responsibilities include reviewing, analyzing, and developing policies related to allowances, entitlements, and services provided to Members, House Officers, and their employees. The ideal candidate will possess exceptional analytical and writing skills, a strong attention to detail, and the ability to exceed expectations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Providing advice on the application and interpretation of policies adopted by the Board of Internal Economy
  • Drafting Board submissions and information notes on policy issues, as well as official correspondence and policy amendments
  • Leading comprehensive consultations with internal partners
  • Ensuring the accuracy of policy material, including the Members' Allowances and Services Manual

Requirements:

  • University degree from a recognized institution in a related field such as public administration, political science, law, international relations, finance, commerce, or business administration
  • Experience in policy development, research, and analysis, supported by strong analytical skills
  • Experience preparing reports, briefing notes, and official correspondence, with excellent drafting skills and strong attention to detail
  • Experience providing policy advice and interpretation to clients, including senior management
  • Experience conducting extensive consultations with stakeholders
