Electrical & Instrumentation Supervisor Role Overview
The Electrical & Instrumentation Supervisor will play a key role in maintaining a safe and efficient work environment at the Lake Utopia Paper Mill. Reporting directly to the Electrical & Instrumentation Superintendent, this individual will oversee a crew of tradespeople, providing leadership in areas such as safety, housekeeping, productivity, quality, and best practices.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and supervise a team of unionized tradespeople.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and company policies.
- Oversee the maintenance, repair, and installation of electrical and instrumentation systems.
- Diagnose and resolve electrical and instrumentation issues promptly to minimize downtime.
- Plan, schedule, and manage E&I projects.
- Manage contractors and suppliers as needed.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations.
- Stay current with innovative technologies and best practices in the field.
- Assist in the development and implementation of mill operational strategies.
- Support the production team by ensuring electrical and instrumentation systems operate efficiently.
Requirements:
- A bachelor's degree or other completed 2-year (minimum) post-secondary program in Engineering or another technical discipline and/or a Red Seal in an Electrical/Instrumentation trade.
- 3+ years experience in Pulp & Paper or another industrial environment is considered an asset.
- Minimum of 1 year of supervisory experience is preferred.
- Knowledge of electrical and instrumentation systems, including PLCs, DCS, and SCADA systems.
- Knowledge of CMMS software (experience with JD Edwards E1 is an asset).
- Excellent troubleshooting and critical thinking skills.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and manage a team.
- Effective communication, organization, and people skills.
- Familiarity with safety regulations and industry standards.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
