About the Job

We are seeking a skilled Heavy Equipment Repair Specialist to join our team at Central Newfoundland Waste Management. This is a permanent position that requires 85 to 95 hours of work bi-weekly.

Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for troubleshooting and inspecting heavy equipment, instructing apprentices, diagnosing faults using computerized testing equipment, ordering parts, and maintaining inventory. Additionally, they will adjust equipment, repair or replace defective parts, keep maintenance reports, and perform welding tasks.

Other duties include testing repaired equipment, attaching components, adjusting new farm equipment, cleaning and lubricating equipment, performing routine maintenance, and assisting process operators in mineral ore and metal processing.

Specializations

The ideal candidate should have experience in diesel engine repair, including fuel injection systems, exhaust systems, cooling systems, air conditioning systems, major internal engine repairs, and installation of engines and machinery.

They should also have expertise in powered equipment repair, including cable-operated working attachments, hydraulic-operated working attachments, compressors, pumps, electric generators, industrial lift trucks, and fork-lifts.

In addition, the candidate should have knowledge of mechanical transmissions, drive trains, hydraulic transmissions, power take-offs, tracked vehicle suspensions, steering, wheel-mounted vehicle suspension and steering, highway vehicle tires, off-road vehicle tires, and brake systems.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, the candidate should have an Other trades certificate or diploma, 2 years of experience in a related field, and excellent oral communication skills. They should also be physically fit, with the ability to lift up to 50 pounds, and have a valid driver's license.

Work Environment

The successful candidate will work in a non-smoking environment, with overtime required as needed.

Salary

The estimated salary for this position is $65,000 per year, based on industry standards and the location of Central Newfoundland Waste Management.
