Job Title: Senior Water Treatment Engineer

At Integrated Sustainability, we are seeking a highly skilled Senior Water Treatment Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our engineering team, you will play a critical role in delivering high-quality and sustainable solutions to our clients.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead small to large-sized teams and projects, coordinating with water, waste, and energy experts to deliver innovative solutions.
  • Conduct detailed data characterization and analysis to inform engineering design and project decisions.
  • Develop and oversee front-end feasibility, preliminary, and detailed engineering designs for various technical contexts.
  • Manage construction and system optimization projects to meet client requirements.
  • Perform water and wastewater chemistry analysis and modeling to assess treatment requirements.
  • Foster strong relationships with clients, technical staff, government representatives, and technology suppliers.
  • Supervise junior technical and field staff to ensure project success.
  • Design and retrofit water and wastewater systems and facilities for industrial and municipal applications.
  • Sizing control valves and pressure safety valves to ensure optimal system performance.
  • Conduct line sizing, equipment sizing, hydraulic analysis, process analysis, and plant optimization projects.
  • Preliminary and detailed design of process plants and water treatment plants in western Canada and elsewhere.
  • Process optimization studies using VMG Sim software and troubleshooting.
  • Oversight of procurement, fabrication, and construction of water and wastewater systems.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, including standards and industry-related codes.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field, such as water/wastewater treatment, aqueous chemistry, process engineering, or mechanical engineering.
  • 10+ years of applicable process engineering experience in North American industrial water treatment, oil and gas, mining, or other process industries.
  • Registration with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta (APEGA) and/or Engineers and Geoscientists British Columbia (EGBC); experience and/or registration with U.S. bodies is considered an asset.
  • Excellent English communication skills and experience in preparing and reviewing technical reports.
  • Proven leadership and communication skills, with business development and client communication skills.
  • Thorough understanding of other disciplines' roles in the design process.
  • Ability to work independently to meet deadlines and manage priorities.
  • Experience with managing water treatment systems fabrication and construction is considered an asset.
  • Experience with hard-rock mining water management and reuse systems, municipal and camp water/wastewater treatment, and other industrial and municipal applications.
  • Strong understanding of available water treatment technologies and practices for treatment, recycling, and reuse for industrial and municipal applications.
