About Our Community

Coast Mountains School District 82 is a diverse and inclusive learning community that serves a student population of approximately 4,100 students in nineteen schools. Job Summary

We are seeking a part-time Elementary Counsellor to join our team at Majagaleehl Gali Aks Elementary School in Hazelton, BC. The successful candidate will work with students, parents, and staff to develop and implement individualized learning plans and provide support for students with academic, social, and emotional learning difficulties.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement individualized learning plans for students with academic, social, and emotional learning difficulties
  • Provide support and guidance to students, parents, and staff
  • Collaborate with teachers and other school staff to develop and implement school-wide initiatives
  • Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge
Requirements
  • Valid BC Ministry of Education Teaching Certificate (or eligible for)
  • Experience teaching students at all grade levels
  • Working knowledge of the learning standards, curricular competencies, and core competencies within the revised BC Curriculum
  • Ability to work as part of a team to develop and implement individualized learning plans
  • Strong classroom management skills
  • Ability to relate well with students, parents, and staff members
