Opportunity Overview

As a seasoned Senior Structural Engineer - Project Lead with Randstad Canada, you will be part of an esteemed team in the Small Buildings division, supporting the growth and development of our client near Kitchener/Waterloo. This role requires a deep understanding of wood frame construction and familiarity with OBC part 9. We seek a licensed Professional Engineer (P.Eng) who can lead projects, seal their own work, and oversee the work of designers under their direction.

Key Responsibilities

• Familiarize yourself with design guidelines, standards, and regulations for structural engineering, specifically wood frame construction

• Prepare accurate and compliant structural engineering designs and documents

• Set up AutoCAD drawings according to company standards

• Create AutoCAD drawings from sketches, mark-ups, and designs

• Effectively manage project tasks within time and budget constraints

• Stay up-to-date with current techniques, codes, and standards to maintain and improve technical skills

• Assist in researching new systems, resources, analytical processes, and working practices to enhance efficiency and productivity

• Coordinate with team members on multiple projects to achieve project milestones

• Collaborate with the project team from preliminary design stages to completion

• Coordinate structural aspects of projects with other discipline designs and drawings

• Conduct site investigations, general reviews of construction, and prepare field review reports when required

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Structural Engineering from a Canadian University or equivalent required

• Registered as a licensed Professional Engineer (P.Eng) with the Professional Engineers of Ontario required

• Knowledge of OBC, specifically part 9

• Experience with wood frame construction

• Proficient in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office 365 Suite (Office, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Teams); experience with Woodworks considered an asset

• Strong knowledge of construction materials and practices or construction work experience considered an asset

• Ability to coordinate multiple projects and work in a fast-paced environment, managing competing priorities

• Access to a vehicle for site reviews/inspections
