Job Summary

Vancouver Coastal Health is seeking a skilled Rehabilitation Assistant to join their team at the West Vancouver Community Health Centre. As a Rehabilitation Assistant, you will work under the supervision of a licensed occupational therapist or physiotherapist to provide physical and occupational therapy interventions to clients.

Key Responsibilities

  • Function under the operational supervision of the Manager and the work direction of a licensed designated occupational therapist or physiotherapist.
  • Provide assigned physical/occupational therapy therapeutic interventions.
  • Assist in modification of Occupational Therapy/Physiotherapy care plans and facilitate transition to community programs.
  • Provide functional direction to family and report relevant observations of client's condition.
  • Manage equipment safety and inventory.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Completion of a recognized Diploma level Rehabilitation Assistant Program with Physical therapy components plus one year's recent, related experience working with target population.
  • Valid BC Driver's License and access to a vehicle.

  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Computer literacy skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with others.
  • Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize work.
  • Ability to observe and recognize changes in clients.
  • Ability to analyze and solve problems.
  • Ability to establish and maintain rapport with clients.
  • Ability to motivate clients and to encourage progression through therapeutic goals.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide self-care instruction and education.
