Job Title: Teacher - Deaf Studies/ASL

We are seeking a qualified Teacher - Deaf Studies/ASL to join our team at the British Columbia Provincial School for the Deaf. The successful candidate will have a passion for teaching and working with Deaf and hard of hearing students.

About the Role:

The Teacher - Deaf Studies/ASL will be responsible for teaching Deaf Studies and ASL to students in grades K-12. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Deaf education and experience working with Deaf and hard of hearing students.

Responsibilities:
  • Teach Deaf Studies and ASL to students in grades K-12
  • Develop and implement engaging lesson plans that meet the needs of Deaf and hard of hearing students
  • Collaborate with other teachers and staff to provide a comprehensive education to Deaf and hard of hearing students
  • Assess student progress and adjust instruction accordingly
  • Communicate with parents and guardians to ensure student success
Requirements:
  • Valid BC teaching certificate
  • Bachelor of Education Degree or academic equivalent
  • Master's degree or diploma in the education of the Deaf and hard of hearing or certification by the Canadian Association of Educators of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (CAEDHH)
  • Fluency in sign (A.S.L.)
