Senior Manager, Cross Border Individual Tax Expert

At Craig Keen Despatie Markell LLP, we're seeking a seasoned Senior Manager to join our Cross Border Individual Tax team. As a trusted advisor, you'll provide expert tax guidance to clients navigating complex international tax landscapes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead client-facing engagement teams in managing U.S. and combined U.S.-Canadian individual income and estate tax return preparation.
- Collaborate with clients to develop cross-border income tax and estate planning strategies.
- Deliver industry expertise on Canadian and U.S. individual income tax, social security, and international tax treaties through client interactions and high-quality deliverables.
- Participate in expatriate policy design and implementation, as well as expatriate compensation design and implementation.
- Oversee engagement planning, scheduling, and project financials, ensuring timely billing and collection.
- Maintain high-quality control by reviewing tax returns and work done by team members for accuracy and completeness.
- Network with local business leaders, identify business development opportunities, and contribute to proposal development to meet client needs.
- Contribute to strategic and operational planning, developing new ideas to improve work processes and client management.
- Mentor and coach team members in professional and personal development, setting clear expectations and providing feedback.
Requirements:
- Completion of a master's degree in U.S. taxation or law is considered an asset.
- 7-8 years of relevant public accounting or tax consulting experience.
- Extensive knowledge of Canadian and U.S. individual and income and estate tax.
- Strong understanding of business, accounting, management, and practice development principles.
- Proven people management, relationship, and leadership skills.
- Strong strategic planning and conceptual thinking skills.
