Key Responsibilities
  • Manage and Maintain a High-Volume Case Load: Independently manage and maintain a high-volume case load, ensuring timely and effective resolution of family law matters.
  • Draft and Respond to Correspondence: Draft and respond to correspondence, including pleadings, financial disclosures, mediation, and trial briefs.
  • Client and Court Communication: Engage in telephone and in-person contact with clients, opposing counsel, and the courts, ensuring effective communication and resolution of family law matters.
  • Witness Preparation: Prepare witness questions for evidentiary hearings, depositions, and trials, ensuring thorough preparation and effective presentation of evidence.
  • Administrative Tasks: Perform administrative practice management tasks, including billing and reporting to clients, ensuring efficient and effective management of family law matters.
Qualifications
  • Admission to the Bar: Must be admitted to the Ontario Bar.
  • Family Law Experience: 2-3+ years of practicing family law.
  • Analytical and Communication Skills: Possess strong analytical skills, excellent oral and written communication skills, and a level-headed demeanor to properly handle sensitive family law matters.
  • Attention to Detail: Demonstrate attention to detail and excellent proofreading skills, ensuring accuracy and precision in all aspects of family law practice.
  • Organization and Teamwork: Possess strong organization and teamwork skills, ensuring effective collaboration and communication with colleagues and clients.
  • Multi-Tasking and Time Management: Demonstrate the ability to multi-task and meet tight deadlines, ensuring timely and effective resolution of family law matters.
  • Additional Skills: Experience in estate planning and/or real estate law would be an asset.
