Job Summary
We are seeking an Electrical Instrumentation Specialist to ensure the continued safe operation of electrical systems and equipment. The successful candidate will carry out repairs, calibration, and maintenance for all facilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Troubleshoot, repair, maintain, calibrate, alter/modify, and install electrical power distribution systems professionally and efficiently.
- Calibrate production and facility instruments ensuring accurate readings.
- Diagnose complex electrical issues with interlocking circuits (PLCs, generators, transformers, switch-gear, controllers, electronic circuits, circuit breakers, motors, heating units, conduit systems).
- Use test instruments to diagnose problems, determine electrical load, and power quality.
- Troubleshoot, repair, maintain, calibrate, alter/modify pneumatic control systems.
- Compile and maintain information/documentation for building systems (CMMS, Ontario Hydro Log Book, change control, update drawings, files).
- Collaborate with users, facilities staff, and vendors to provide electrical expertise, evaluate system effectiveness, and ensure safe, efficient, reliable operation.
- Arrange contracted services as required and supervise work on electrical systems/equipment.
- Determine work impact, communicate to management/customers to schedule activities reducing production schedule impact.
- Evaluate that electrical work is completed according to respective codes.
- Work from blueprints/drawings/layouts or other specifications; locate/diagnose trouble in electrical systems/equipment.
- Follow manufacturer's manuals for tracing complicated circuitry in equipment.
- Implement temporary alterations allowing continued safe operations.
- Utilize standard electricians' hand tools, measuring/testing instruments, conduit bender, power hacksaw, pipe-threader.
- Ensure all work is performed in compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices, Standard Operating Procedures, Work Instructions, and established safety standards.
- Perform work as a member of a team achieving desired outcomes.
- Adhere to Corporate Values: Pride, Accountability, Integrity, Diligence; demonstrate visible support of our values.
- Complete assigned Continuous Improvement projects within required timelines, utilizing PDCA template, presenting results to SLT biweekly report-out meetings.
- All other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Grade 12 combined with current Ontario Industrial Electrician and/or Construction and Maintenance Electrician License.
- At least five years previous electrical maintenance experience with instrumentation/control experience required.
- Strong interpersonal skills, demonstrated initiative/self-motivation, good planning/organizational skills.
