About the Role:

This position is part of the interdisciplinary team in the Recreation Therapy department at Alberta Health Services. As a Therapy Support Specialist, you will contribute to the effective and efficient delivery of rehabilitation services. Your responsibilities may include administrative tasks such as ordering supplies, booking clients, tracking attendances, and maintaining equipment inventory. You will work under the direction of a supervising recreation therapist, physiotherapist, occupational therapist, audiologist, or speech language pathologist to prepare and apply routine interventions, promote patient healthy living, and motivate clients to participate in assigned therapy protocols or programs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with client lifts and transfers, positioning, and basic activities of daily living (ADL) and instrumental activities of daily living (IADL) within the context of the therapy program.
  • Prepare and clean the treatment area, ensuring a safe and comfortable environment for clients.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of therapy programs, under the guidance of a supervising therapist.
  • Communicate effectively with clients, families, and healthcare professionals to ensure seamless care coordination.

Requirements:

  • Completion of Grade 12.
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) certification.
