Post-Secondary Education Guidance Specialist

The Lac La Ronge Indian Band's Education Department is seeking a skilled Post-Secondary Education Counsellor to provide essential support services to our students. This full-time position is based in La Ronge, SK.
About the RoleThis role involves providing academic guidance and recommending support services to post-secondary students in accordance with our Post-Secondary Student Support Handbook. You will work closely with our Post-Secondary Coordinator and other teams to ensure that our students receive the best possible support.
Key Responsibilities- Assist post-secondary students in achieving their academic goals by providing guidance on course selection, degree planning, and career development.
- Monitor student progress and provide timely interventions to address any challenges or concerns.
- Collaborate with educational institutions, First Nations organizations, and government agencies to promote our students' interests and needs.
- Maintain accurate records of student interactions, progress, and outcomes.
- Demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build strong relationships with students, colleagues, and external partners.
- A minimum university diploma or certificate, or equivalent work experience.
- Experience in counselling post-secondary students, preferably in an Indigenous context.
- Strong knowledge of post-secondary education systems, policies, and procedures.
- Excellent organizational, time management, and problem-solving skills.
- Demonstrated commitment to serving Indigenous communities and promoting education equity.
We offer a competitive salary range of $60,000 - $80,000 per year, depending on qualifications and experience. Our organization values professional growth and development, offering opportunities for training, mentorship, and advancement.
