Civil/Structural Design Engineer Job Summary
Vulcraft Canada Inc. is seeking a qualified Civil/Structural Design Engineer to join our team in Leduc, AB.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure customer needs are met and service requirements are fulfilled.
- Review contract documents, including structural and architectural drawings, and project specifications to extract pertinent information.
- Perform engineering design calculations for open-web steel joists and steel deck products to meet project requirements and applicable building codes.
- Provide direction and technical support to detailers, shop orders, and production teammates.
- Communicate and coordinate job requirements with customers, architects, engineers, contractors, and internal departments.
- Assist project managers and sales personnel with sales and service coordination for engineering, fabrication, and delivery.
Requirements:
- BSc or MSc/MEng in Civil Engineering, with an emphasis in Structural Design preferred.
- Canadian resident with the ability to travel across North America.
- 3+ years of relevant experience in structural design or similar.

- Teamwork – work as part of a coordinated effort to achieve a common goal.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Ability to obtain designation within 6 months of hire.
- CWB Welding Engineer certification or willingness to obtain.
- Engineering experience in Steel Joist and deck business or structural steel fabrication and erection environment.
- Good understanding of the National Building Code of Canada and relevant CSA standards.
- Site and shop inspection experience with a QA background.
- Superior language skills, both written and oral.
- Previous experience with SAP, RISA, MS office, or other structural analysis software.
