Job Title: AZ Operator - Emergency Response Specialist

GFL Environmental is seeking a highly skilled and experienced AZ Operator to join our Emergency Response division in Moose Creek, ON. As an AZ Operator, you will play a critical role in supporting our team in responding to various incidents, including environmental and industrial spills, clandestine laboratory decommissioning, highway incidents, train derailments, and marine operations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Transport, remove, deliver, and collect various liquid and solid hazardous wastes from customer sites
  • Load and unload trucks, and operate a variety of equipment, including vacuum trucks, box trucks, and other equipment as required
  • Respond to incidents, including environmental and industrial spills, clandestine laboratory decommissioning, highway incidents, train derailments, and marine operations
  • Work with police, fire, EMS, Environment Canada, and other stakeholders to respond to incidents
  • Participate in job-specific and health & safety training as required
  • Operate in an efficient and safe manner, completing work-related documentation and reporting as needed
Requirements:
  • High School diploma minimum
  • Certification from a recognized Truck Driving School
  • Valid Commercial AZ License
  • Overtime as required, with a possible on-call schedule
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with ability to perform routine vehicle maintenance
  • Demonstrated organizational skills with strong oral and written communication abilities
  • Exceptional organizational abilities with task prioritization, multi-tasking, use of timelines, and time management techniques
  • High level of personal integrity, strong work ethic, and professional/mature demeanor under stressful situations
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, with manual dexterity and ability to lift 75+ lbs required
