**Job Summary**

We are seeking an experienced Heavy Duty Mechanic and Operations Specialist to join our team at Peterborough Airport. The successful candidate will report to the manager of Peterborough Airport and support day-to-day operations and site safety.

This is a full-time permanent position with approximately 60 per cent of duties performed outdoors. The incumbent will work a variety of shifts from Monday to Sunday during the spring, summer, and fall. Shifts will be determined according to the operational needs of the airport.

The role involves managing and completing repairs of heavy-duty equipment and vehicles, including tractors, loaders, snow blowers, sweepers, and single- and tandem-axle trucks. The incumbent will also diagnose systems, conduct annual inspections on road vehicles, complete preventative maintenance, maintain records of repairs and maintenance, and assist with various tasks related to airport operations.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Grade 12 secondary school education
  • 310T Heavy Truck Technician certification
  • Equipment maintenance knowledge
  • Communication skills (written and verbal) to respond to customers and to interpret instructions and procedural manuals
  • Basic computer skills
  • Ability to analyze problems in order to solve problems effectively
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team
  • Ability to lift up to 30 kg
  • Ability to work standing or sitting for an extended period of time while using equipment and lifting, pulling, and managing heavy objects

A valid DZ license or equivalent experience, Firearms Possession and Acquisition License, Current CPR and first aid training, ROC-A license, and Chainsaw certification are considered assets.
