System Safety and Reliability Engineering Specialist

About the Role
We are seeking an Intermediate to Working level System Safety and Reliability Engineering Analyst to join our team at General Dynamics Mission Systems–Canada.
In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring adherence to system safety and reliability requirements in the development, integration, and production phases of the engineering cycle.
Key responsibilities include:
- Assessing contractual system safety requirements, standards, and regulations by writing plans and participating in internal and external design reviews, Configuration Control Boards, and Prime Contractor System Safety Working Groups to monitor progress.
- Providing inputs to developers regarding the optimization of the system, evaluating the design to minimize occurrences and impact of hazards, and following up to ensure safety measures are implemented.
- Executing Hazard Assessments and Fault Tree Analyses and categorizing hazards in accordance with the probability of occurrence and severity classifications.
- Collaborating with internal programs and engineering teams.
Requirements
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- Bachelor degree in an applicable discipline.
- Experience in the application of system safety disciplines to civilian or military programs.
- Knowledge of MIL-STD-882E, MIL-STD-1629A, and SAE ARP 4761; DEF-STAN-0055/56.
- Knowledge of systems engineering, hardware design, and software design methods and processes.
- Familiarity with Reliability, Maintainability, and FMEA tools.
- Experience in the development and delivery of technical documentation for complex systems.
- Ability to obtain and maintain Canadian Security Clearance and a positive Controlled Goods Assessment. Eligibility to work in Canada either as a Canadian Citizen or Permanent Resident.
Preferred Qualifications
It would be beneficial if you have experience in the following areas:
- SAFe Agile environment.
- MIL-STD-882E, MIL-STD-1629A, SAE ARP 4761, DEF STAN 00-055, and DEF STAN 00-056.
- Land vehicle and component level safety experience.
- Excellent communication skills and proven ability as a team player.
