About This Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced and passionate Educational Assistant to join our team at York Region District School Board. As a key member of our student support staff, you will play a critical role in supporting students with diverse needs, ensuring their success and well-being.

Key Responsibilities
  • To provide direct support to students with complex needs, assisting them in achieving their academic and personal goals
  • To work collaboratively with teachers, education assistants, and other school staff to develop and implement individualized support plans
  • To contribute to creating a positive and inclusive learning environment that promotes social-emotional growth and development
Requirements
  • Diploma or degree in a related field (e.g., special education, child and youth care)
  • Minimum three years of experience working with students with diverse needs, preferably in an educational setting
  • Knowledge of crisis intervention strategies, assistive technology, and behaviour management systems
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with students, parents, and colleagues
