Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Maintenance Worker to join our team at The Salvation Army. As a key member of our facilities team, you will be responsible for maintaining the safety and security of our premises, ensuring that all systems and equipment are functioning properly.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Property Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance tasks, including preventative maintenance schedules, to ensure the upkeep of our facilities.
  • Respond to Maintenance Requests: Respond promptly to maintenance requests from management, addressing any issues or concerns in a timely and efficient manner.
  • General Repairs: Perform general repairs, such as patching, painting, plumbing, and replacing light bulbs, as needed.
  • Building Inspections: Conduct weekly building inspections to identify any potential issues or concerns.
  • Vehicle Maintenance: Ensure that our vehicles are maintained in a safe and secure manner, adhering to manufacturer recommendations and warranty conditions.
  • Shipping and Receiving: Receive and ship goods through our dock, moving goods to and from the shipping area as needed.
Requirements:
  • Education: High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience: 1-3 years of recent general maintenance experience, preferably in a similar organization.
  • Skills: Good communication and organizational skills, knowledge of basic carpentry, plumbing, and painting, and valid Ontario Class "G" Driver's License.
Working Conditions:
  • Work Environment: Warehouse and shelter environment, with regular exposure to the outdoors.
  • Physical Demands: Ability to lift up to 30 pounds, push and pull skids weighing up to 100 pounds, and spend long periods on feet.

  • Competitive Salary: $17.27 per hour, increasing to $17.80 per hour upon successful completion of the probationary period.
