Job Overview

Aversan is seeking a skilled Senior Hardware Design Engineer to lead the design and implementation of electronic hardware systems in a team setting. This position reports to the Hardware Engineering Manager.

About the Role

We are offering a competitive salary of $120,000 per year, plus benefits and opportunities for professional growth. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in electrical engineering, experience with DO-254 processes, and leadership skills. They will be responsible for designing and developing both analog and digital circuits, analyzing customer needs, and creating detailed hardware architecture and formal structured design.

Responsibilities
  • Technical Leadership
  1. Support technical proposals and assist with estimates, schedules, compliance matrixes, and costing for new bids
  2. Analyze customer needs/requirements to create hardware development plans and verification plans
  3. Develop, deploy, and support DO-254 processes, reviews (SOI), development plans, and review checklists
Circuit Design and Analysis
  1. Analyze and specify hardware development environment (HDE), verification environment, debugging, and profiling tools
  2. Design electronic circuits, components, systems, and equipment from detailed designs to meet EMC/EMI requirements and performance
  3. Prepare material costs and timing estimates, reports, and design descriptions for electronic systems and equipment
Collaboration and Communication
  1. Perform circuit analysis and traceability from user's requirements to formal design and implementation
  2. Support and inspect the installation, modification, testing, and operation of electronic components, systems, and equipment
  3. Debug and troubleshoot hardware circuits
  4. Determine FMEA at Board and Component levels
  5. Integrate hardware into embedded system environment, including test bench and on aircraft at customer sites
  6. Work with product development teams – product/systems and/or Software Engineers and engineering support in a leadership role
  7. Produce and manage work packages and submit status reports to Hardware Engineering Manager
  8. Participate and support on program risk assessment and mitigation
  9. Supervise the work of junior designers and/or other engineering employees
  10. Provide presentations to customers on hardware design and operation
Qualifications
  1. Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Computer Engineering or equivalent combination of training and experience
  2. Strong experience with in electronic product design and reliability analysis, including digital and analog building blocks;
  3. Experience with Orcad, Matlab, VHDL design and experience on DO-254, DOORS, PSPICE are assets.
  4. Technical and hardware qualifications (DO-160 and DO-254) experience. Background from Control systems (Engine Control, Landing and Steering Controls an asset), Avionics, Aerospace, Medical Device or other high reliability products would be a definite asset;
  5. Leadership/management experience
  6. Proven experience working with standards, processes, and work procedures in a structured design environment;
  7. Familiarity with RTCA, Inc. certification standards;
