Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Accountant to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing and reviewing external disclosure documents, including quarterly and annual consolidated financial statements and regulatory financial filings. This role requires strong analytical and problem-solving skills, as well as the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Prepare consolidated financial statements and related schedules, and various operational and financial filings under Canadian/US regulatory accounting standards
  • Ensure compliance with Canadian/US regulatory accounting standards, including identifying and analyzing differences between US GAAP and regulatory accounting standards
  • Perform journal entries and reconciliations, and review and trace account codes and cost objects
  • Coordinate with internal collaborators to acquire and validate information needed for reporting purposes
  • Identify and analyze opportunities for process improvements and work with teams to implement selected solutions
Requirements:
  • Undergraduate degree in Accounting, Finance, or a relevant field; Accounting designation is desirable
  • Minimum two (2) years of relevant professional experience, with railroad-related experience being desirable
  • Ability to work with Excel to manipulate large sets of data
  • Application expertise in SAP, BW, and BPC is desirable
