Job Title: Executive Financial Leadership Role for Dynamic Edmonton Company

About the Opportunity:

This is an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic company in Edmonton as their Designated Professional Accountant. The ideal candidate will have previous controllership experience and be familiar with daily accounting practices, including financial reporting. They will provide apt and accurate financial information to ensure business decisions can be made in a timely manner.

Your Key Responsibilities:

  • You will develop and maintain in-depth financial modeling to drive business growth.
  • You will be able to switch between critical tasks quickly and efficiently, ensuring seamless day-to-day operations.
  • You will communicate with managers and decision-makers to ensure the integrity and accuracy of financial data and statements.
  • You will provide insight to different business units in various industries while providing Controllership overview.
  • You will optimize financial processes, implement effective internal controls, and improve efficiency in financial reporting and analysis.
  • You will provide financial insight on new business initiatives while keeping the company's overall objectives in mind.
  • You will contribute to the company's long-term growth and financial stability by developing and implementing a 3-year business plan of continuous improvements, sound financial management, and tax planning.
  • You will lead and manage the finance and accounting team, providing guidance, training, and coaching to ensure high performance.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
  • CPA designation.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a Controller (or above) role.
  • Ability to travel with short notice.
  • Public company or public accounting firm experience preferred.
  • Advanced Excel skills and experience with financial modelling.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in financial software and ERP systems (e.g. SAP, Oracle)
  • Problem-solving mindset with a can-do attitude.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.

About the Salary:

The estimated salary for this role is $120,000 - $150,000 per year, depending on experience.
