Job Title: Associate Lawyer

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Associate Lawyer to join our team at Goodman & Berman Barristers. As an Associate Lawyer, you will play a key role in providing legal services to our clients and contributing to the growth and success of our law firm.

Job Summary:

The Associate Lawyer will be responsible for advising clients on their legal rights and matters related to law, performing administrative and management functions related to the practice of law, and pleading clients' cases before courts of law, tribunals, and boards. The successful candidate will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks and priorities.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Advise clients on their legal rights and matters related to law
  • Perform administrative and management functions related to the practice of law
  • Plead clients' cases before courts of law, tribunals, and boards
  • Draw up legal documents and prepare statements of legal opinion
  • Represent interests of corporation/employer in all business related to legal matters
  • Offer mediation, conciliation, and arbitration services
  • Administer budget
  • Recruit and hire staff
  • Supervise professional, para-legal, and support staff and articling students
  • Teach law courses
  • Conduct law workshops
  • Research legal precedents and gather evidence
  • Provide public education seminars/sessions
  • Write and edit for legal publications
Requirements:
  • Membership in the Canadian Bar Association
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
