Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Elementary Music Educator to join our team at School District #23 (Central Okanagan). As a key member of our educational community, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality music education to our students.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement engaging music curricula for elementary students
  • Provide instruction in concert band, jazz band, choral, and other music programs
  • Assess student progress and adjust instruction to meet individual needs
  • Collaborate with colleagues to implement BC's Education Plan and the Redesigned Curriculum
  • Participate in the implementation of the school level Collaborative Model of Support and work to develop the School District Attributes for the 21st Century
  • Utilize technology to support planning, attendance monitoring, communication, classroom instruction, and reporting
  • Contribute to the fulfillment of school and district goals
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Two years of successful classroom teaching experience in music programs
  • Experience in differentiating and providing inclusive learning opportunities
  • Training/experience in Quality Assessment practices, such as differentiated instruction and criterion-referenced grading
  • A strong interest in innovation and inquiry
  • Indigenous ancestry (as per Special Program with the BC Human Rights Tribunal)
Compensation:

The starting annual salary for this teaching position ranges from $57,972 to $106,217, with placement on the range based on length of service and qualifications in accordance with the collective agreement.
