About the Role
The Canadian Red Cross is seeking a skilled Medical Equipment Technician to join our team in British Columbia. As a key member of our HELP program, you will play a vital role in supporting our volunteers and clients by providing expert technical assistance with medical equipment.
Key Responsibilities
- Clean and disinfect medical equipment according to established protocols.
- Repair and maintain medical equipment, following manufacturer guidelines.
- Document repairs and update inventory records in our management system.
- Deliver and install medical equipment at client locations, following established procedures.
- Provide technical guidance and support to clients and their caregivers.
Requirements
- High school diploma and post-secondary education in a relevant field.
- At least two years of experience working with manual and electrical tools, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Ability to lift up to 80 pounds (36 kg).
- Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Valid Class 5 driver's license in British Columbia.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Working Conditions
- 35-hour workweek, Monday to Friday.
- Work will be performed in warehouses and other program locations, including client homes and long-term care facilities.
- Ability to stand or sit for extended periods and drive safely to deliver equipment, which may account for up to 75% of work hours.
