Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Occupational Therapist to join our Acquired Brain Injury Services team at Fraser Health. As an Occupational Therapist, you will provide specialized community-based occupational therapy services to individuals with Acquired Brain Injury (ABI), and work collaboratively with colleagues, clients, and caregivers to develop individual treatment goals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide occupational therapy assessment, consultation, and interventions to referred clients to maximize physical function and promote independence and safety.
  • Develop and monitor treatment rehabilitation plans for ABI clients, and provide clinical services to an assigned individual caseload.
  • Act as a consultant/resource to the family, care team, and community agencies in the provision of rehabilitation services, and recommend appropriate community resources.
  • Develop and monitor rehabilitation services to meet the rehabilitation needs of ABI clients, and liaise with program areas and other community agencies to facilitate the integration of rehabilitation strategies.
  • Participate in quality improvement and risk management activities for Acquired Brain Injury Services, and evaluate clinical practice to generate recommendations for alternative approaches.
Requirements
  • Graduation from an accredited school of Occupational Therapy.
  • Two years' recent, related experience in ABI or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Current full registration with the College of Occupational Therapists of British Columbia (COTBC).
  • Eligible for membership in the Canadian Association of Occupational Therapists (CAOT-BC).
  • Valid B.C. driver's license and access to a personal vehicle for business-related purposes.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge of the broad health system, community resources, and volunteer agencies, and their roles and responsibilities in providing a continuum of care.
  • Knowledge of disability issues and the needs of adults living with permanent injury and illness.
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation, standards, and policies.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of rehabilitation practices in ABI rehabilitation.
