Job SummaryWe are seeking a highly skilled Health and Safety Advisor to join our Health, Safety and Security Department (HSS). The successful candidate will report to the Health and Safety Manager, Cannabis Ops, and be responsible for ensuring compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations and guidelines.
Key Responsibilities- Facilitate compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations and guidelines.
- Advise and support operations to ensure a safe working environment and prevent injuries and accidents.
- Work with the Joint Occupational Health and Safety Committee (JOHSC) members to promote a positive safety culture and review, maintain, and improve the Health, Safety and Security program.
- Assess and implement safety protocols, review policies and procedures, and handle Workplace Safety and Insurance Board (WSIB) and WorkSafeBC related matters.
- Manage safety supplies and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), ensuring adequate stock and proper distribution.
- University certificate or diploma in Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) or Occupational Health and Safety (OH&S) programs.
- 3-5 years of experience in a health and safety role, with recent experience in a manufacturing or industrial setting.
- Working towards or willing to pursue NCSO/MO or CRSP designation; First Aid certification is considered an asset.
- Strong understanding of OH&S legislation and regulatory requirements, particularly WorkSafeBC.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to manage time and priorities effectively; proficiency with Microsoft Office programs.
