Assistant Controller Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Assistant Controller to join our team at Next Level Group. As an Assistant Controller, you will play a key role in maintaining financial reports, records, and general ledger accounts.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records, including general ledger accounts, financial reports, and other related documents.
  • Prepare and review journal entries, analyses, and account reconciliations to ensure accuracy and compliance with GAAP.
  • Contribute to the development and review of annual operating budgets and performance projections.
  • Maintain documentation for fixed assets, treasury, and conduct internal/external audits.
  • Perform monthly balance sheet reconciliations and meet processing and reporting deadlines.
  • Respond to information requests, review financial statements, and assist with audits.
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP and review general ledger accounts.
  • Prepare and adjust journal entries, perform account analysis and reconciliation, including bank statements and intercompany general ledger accounts.
  • Cash Flow Forecasting and assist with initial internal control evaluations.
  • Post monthly, quarterly, and yearly accruals and provide vacation back-up and cross-training for accounts Payable/Receivable/Payroll.
  • Responsible for revenue management of Property, Operational, and Intercompany billings.
Requirements:
  • Highly motivated and driven professional with excellent financial, analytical, and business acumen skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to drive process improvement and excellent communication (written and oral) skills.
  • Positive attitude, good judgment, and strong interpersonal skills.
  • Strong sense of responsibility and ownership.
  • Construction industry experience is preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Experience:
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience in an accounting or similar role is required.
  • Post-secondary diploma or degree in related field is required.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality and self-motivated with good problem-solving and time management skills.
  • Working knowledge of GAAP and strong numeracy and analytical skills.

Compensation - Competitive with industry standards and includes a comprehensive health and benefits package with RRSP.

The successful candidate will be required to provide references.

This position is locally based in Charlottetown, PEI. Working remotely is not an available option for this position.
