Job Title: Addictions Counsellor

NGWAAGAN GAMIG RECOVERY CENTRE INC. is seeking a skilled Addictions Counsellor to join our team. As a member of our interdisciplinary team, you will be responsible for delivering culturally based addictions treatment and prevention services to our clients.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct intake applications and develop service plans with clients for the Treatment and Community-Based Programs
  • Conduct counsellor-client interviews, counselling sessions, and assessments
  • Maintain confidentiality and prepare appropriate documentation as required
  • Facilitate educational and group sessions related to addiction's services and mental wellness
  • Develop, facilitate, assess, and evaluate programming
  • Participate in the organization's team goals of ongoing accreditation processes
  • Daily data input and case documentation of contacts, client goals, service plans, and progress of the client
  • Prepare written reports and participate in case conference reviews and team meetings as required
Requirements:
  • Post-Secondary Education in Human Services, Addictions, or related field and a minimum of two (2) years related experience in the field of Addictions Counselling
  • Must demonstrate qualities of a positive role model for the Anishinaabe community and adhere to the Code of Ethics
  • Knowledge of Anishinaabe culture, language, and issues is an asset
  • Knowledge of the services and programs within Ngwaagan Gamig Recovery Centre Inc.
  • Must demonstrate good interpersonal and communication skills
  • Must possess excellent written and verbal communications skills
  • Must demonstrate an ability to communicate well and to document the interactions accurately and appropriately
  • Strong planning, organizational, and time management skills
  • Experience in the maintenance of confidential information
  • Knowledge of the Continuum of Care for addictions services, transition support and aftercare practices
  • Valid Class G Driver's License
  • Must be willing to submit a current Driver's Abstract and a criminal reference check with a vulnerable sector screen (CPIC-VSC)
