Security Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Asset Protection Representative to join our team at Loblaw Companies. As an Asset Protection Representative, you will play a critical role in protecting our assets and preventing losses.

• Deter, detect, and apprehend shoplifters and fraudsters in our retail locations.
• Investigate cases with other Asset Protection Representatives, including provincial or national shoplifting rings, as needed.
• Collaborate regularly with local law enforcement.
• Detect and conduct internal investigations; compile and present evidence in court or arbitration.
• Detect and determine potential opportunities for loss prevention improvement within our operational compliance framework.
• Build and maintain in-store partnerships through daily meetings and training; train and support colleagues on asset protection policies and procedures.
• Participate in store audits.
• Participate in community events.
• Be available to work a variety of shifts, including day, evening, night, and weekend shifts (40-hour workweek with some flexibility, as the Asset Protection Representative sets their own schedule, approved by the store manager).

• Valid provincial security guard permit (BSP Permit)
• Basic understanding of the Canadian Criminal Code, Unauthorized Entry Act, Arrest Powers, and surveillance or video surveillance systems, and practical knowledge of basic Windows applications (Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook)
• Professional, friendly, and approachable attitude
• High level of initiative and integrity to succeed in a dynamic environment
