Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and physically capable Rail Loader to join our team at Auto Warehousing Company Canada. As a Rail Loader, you will be responsible for safely and efficiently loading and unloading rail cars with finished products.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure Blue Flag protection is in place
  • Install bridge plates between rail cars
  • Drive vehicles from drop zones to loading zones and stage for rail loading
  • Drive vehicles from loading zones onto loading ramps and into rail cars
  • Park vehicles, secure them, and turn off accessories
  • Exit vehicles without causing damage
  • Connect chock blocks behind wheels and strap them in place
  • Use ratchets to tighten straps
  • Exit rail cars by climbing down ladder railings
  • Raise, lower, or remove bridge plates as needed
  • Pull pins/levers to drop hinge deck lids
  • Inspect loading equipment and report any issues
  • Check vehicles for damage and report to supervisors
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and organized working environment
Working Conditions
  • Work in various weather conditions
  • Work at a fast pace
  • Work in tight spaces
  • Wear personal protective equipment, including safety vests, gloves, safety glasses, hard hats, and coveralls
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum 1 year of heavy labour experience
  • Ability to drive automatic and manual transmission vehicles
  • Valid full G driver's license
  • Ability to communicate in English, read, write, and interpret documents
  • Subject to third-party pre-employment medical assessment
  • Subject to background check, including driver's abstract and criminal record check
