Position: Family Lawyer

Responsibilities:

  • Independently manage family law files, ensuring timely and efficient resolution of cases.
  • Handle a wide range of family law matters, including separation agreements, spousal maintenance, and asset division, with a focus on providing expert advice and guidance.
  • Conduct hearings, discoveries, mediations, and trials, utilizing strong communication and negotiation skills to achieve successful outcomes.
  • Instruct support staff and receive instructions from clients, maintaining a high level of professionalism and discretion.
  • Draft pleadings and speak to chamber applications, ensuring accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Negotiate at mediations and appear at trials, utilizing strong advocacy skills to achieve favorable results.
  • Manage all aspects of a file from beginning to end, ensuring seamless and efficient case management.
  • Experience in general civil litigation is an asset, as it provides a solid foundation for handling complex family law cases.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 6 years of experience in British Columbia family law practice, with a strong track record of success.
  • Ability to handle challenging work and manage files independently, with a high level of autonomy and self-motivation.
  • Strong judgment, work ethic, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Desire to become part of the community served, with a commitment to providing exceptional service and support.
  • Enthusiasm for growing practice and working towards partnership, with a focus on long-term career development.
  • Book of business required, with a strong network of clients and contacts.

Compensation:

  • Salary to be negotiated, based on experience and qualifications.
