Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Plastic Extrusion Operator to join our team at Meltech Plastics Corporation. As a key member of our production team, you will be responsible for operating and maintaining our extruding machines to produce high-quality plastic compounds.

Key Responsibilities
  • Troubleshooting and Maintenance
    • Identify and resolve equipment issues to minimize downtime and ensure optimal production levels.
    • Perform routine maintenance tasks to ensure the smooth operation of our extruding machines.
  • Material Handling and Quality Control
    • Weigh and measure resins, colorants, and other chemicals according to established formulae.
    • Monitor and inspect the quality of material produced to ensure it meets our high standards.
    • Unload mixture into containers or conveyors for further processing.
  • Operational Efficiency
    • Set up and operate extruding machines to extrude plastic compounds through nozzles or dies.
    • Organize and maintain inventory levels to ensure efficient production.
    • Adjust processing machines and equipment to optimize production output.
  • Health and Safety
    • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and protocols.
    • Clean and maintain the work area to prevent accidents and ensure a safe working environment.
  • Record Keeping and Communication
    • Record production information and data to track performance and identify areas for improvement.
    • Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors to ensure seamless production operations.
Requirements
  • Education and Experience
    • Completion of an Other Trades certificate or diploma.
    • 2 years to less than 3 years of experience in a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Skills and Abilities
    • Ability to distinguish between colors.
    • Manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination.
    • Standing for extended periods.
    • Excellent oral communication and teamwork skills.
  • Personal Qualities
    • Accurate and dependable.
    • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
    • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities.
