Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Youth Counsellor to join our team at Northwest Employment Works. This is an exciting opportunity to work with Anishinabek youth and families, providing daily therapeutic opportunities in a 24-hour home setting.

About the Role

The successful candidate will work collaboratively with our clinical team to ensure program delivery meets the cultural, social, emotional, mental, and physical well-being of children/youth and their families. We require a candidate with relevant experience working with Indigenous youth/families, providing activity-based therapeutic interventions, and supporting youth with mental health needs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement daily therapeutic plans tailored to individual youth needs
  • Work closely with the clinical team to ensure consistent program delivery
  • Collaborate with youth, families, and community members to promote cultural awareness and understanding
  • Provide support and guidance to youth in crisis situations
  • Maintain accurate records and reports as required
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • An Indigenous Learning Degree, BSW, or equivalent qualification
  • At least three years of related experience working with Anishinabek youth/families
  • Experience providing activity-based therapeutic interventions, including cultural, land-based, recreational, and prosocial activities
  • A satisfactory Criminal Records Search, including a Vulnerable Sector Search
  • A valid Standard First Aid/CPR Certificate
  • A Class G Driver's License and access to a personal vehicle with $1 million liability insurance

Estimated Salary: $60,000 - $80,000 per annum, depending on qualifications and experience.
