Career Opportunity

Alamos Gold Inc. is seeking a skilled Database/GIS Specialist to join our Engineering team at Young-Davidson, a low-cost, long-life gold mine in Ontario, Canada.

The successful candidate will be responsible for carrying out geological assignments and assisting in multiple areas of the Geology Department, including data validation, spatial product creation, and database maintenance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review and validate drilling, mapping, and compilation data before submission to the database.
  • Prepare and maintain geological maps, sections, and 3D projects/shapes using Vulcan and Deswik.
  • Develop and maintain underground and surface mapping protocols.
  • Collaborate with database and GIS Administrators to ensure application adoption and database consistency.
  • Organize server/cloud folders and ensure current information is available.
  • Conduct routine QA/QC of databases to ensure data integrity.
  • Research and compile historic and government geoscience information as needed.
  • Provide software and data support to site staff.
  • Communicate with external laboratories for routine assays and QAQC work.
  • Assist with resource work as needed.

Requirements:

  • 4+ years of experience in a similar role.
  • Professional background in geology or a related discipline, with P.Geo designation or ability to register as a professional geoscientist in Ontario.
  • Knowledge of Mineral Exploration/Mining workflows, including field sampling/mapping, core logging, drafting, laboratory analysis, and QAQC.
  • Strong proficiency with ArcGIS software.
  • Experience working with Acquire, Vulcan, and Leapfrog.
  • Knowledge of SharePoint, ArcGIS Online, Fusion, and Imago are considered assets.
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills, strong attention to detail, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to communicate and work effectively with other employees and contractors.
  • Prior experience in mining and/or mineral exploration is preferred.

Working Conditions:

The successful candidate will work a 4x3 10-hour shift schedule and will be based at the Young-Davidson mine site in Ontario, Canada.
