We are seeking a skilled Naval Architect to join our team at Blumara, a company based in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Our company was established in 2016 to provide innovative solutions for the marine environment.

As a Naval Architect at Blumara, you will be responsible for:

  • Providing day-to-day support for ship design and analysis activities
  • Performing mechanical/structural design and drafting tasks for new build and vessel modifications
  • Assisting with design calculations, including finite element analysis
  • Providing general support to other Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering activities
  • Staying up-to-date with marine industry developments, standards, regulations, and codes
  • Representing Blumara at industry events, conferences, and meetings as necessary
  • Contributing to a productive work environment based on mutual trust and respect

Requirements for the position include:

  • Undergraduate degree in Naval Architecture or a related field
  • Registered PEng or EIT working towards PEng status
  • Proficiency in AutoCad and Rhino (or other 3D modeling software)
  • Experience in the design and analysis of ship structures and/or mechanical systems
  • Project management skills
  • Strong interpersonal and written/verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Preferred qualifications include experience in Naval vessel design, ship safety and certification, and working in the offshore environment.
